You don’t have to become a health nut to make better life choices. And don’t forget — the choices you make today can impact your future for the better and inspire others.

5 things you can do to encourage a healthier mobile home lifestyle

Did you know that, according to the Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention, obesity affected about 93.3 million of US adults in 2015 to 2016?

Additionally, “more than 30 million Americans have diabetes (about 1 in 10), and 90% to 95% of them have type 2 diabetes.”

Those are just two of the numerous health issues faced by Americans in any given day.

As you take in the statistics, understand that we’re not trying to cause you distress. Rather, we are striving to inform you of the real world problems we are facing today while providing you with helpful hacks and tips to get on the right path.

Ultimately, good stewardship should be part of every lifestyle. And that can look different from home to home. But we do think there are some basic strides that can be made by most homes to get started on a proactive lifestyle. Start by taking a preventative approach to health issues!

1 – Throw out the soda

If you constantly carry a Diet Coke or some other soda drink in your hand, then this will be a big game-changer for you. Ditching soda and keeping it out of your mobile home will help you take control of your health.

Its high sugar content is a threat to any human body — sugar being the high-fructose corn syrup. It’s one of the biggest culprits behind diabetic, heart disease and cancer deaths.

2 – Bye-bye, high fructose corn syrup

Now let’s look at high fructose corn syrup. This is an ingredient you should work to eradicate from your lifestyle. Its properties are detrimental as mentioned above. But unfortunately for many, the ingredient is found in all sorts of everyday food items such as sauces, candy, pre-packed meals and so on. Even commercial fruit juice carries high fructose corn syrup!

You must read the labels. If this sounds daunting to you, consider the most used food item in your home. Check the label. Does it have high fructose corn syrup? Then buy an alternative that does not.

Healthy choices don’t happen 100% overnight. Change takes time. Rather than overwhelm yourself with so many changes, start with baby steps where it would have the biggest effect.

Fructose is a sweetener that comes from corn. It’s more affordable than table sugar and it’s much sweeter. Tragically, fructose is linked to all manner of health conditions as mentioned above in our paragraph on soda.

3 – Eat more greens

If you want to have a better and healthier mobile home lifestyle, then keep a steady supply of greens coming into your home. Clean eating is always a good idea. But if you start with anything, try incorporating some healthy greens like broccoli, spinach, and kale into your day.

In greens, you’ll find a host of vitamins and fibers that are good for your body. It’s something your body will appreciate and it will affect your mental health too!

4 – Walk like nobody’s watching

Taking a walk

To incorporate a walking routine into your lifestyle is to give your body a much needed and appreciated boost of energy. And not only that — when you walk, you’re caring for your brain health and your heart health! With dementia posing a problem to the aging, it’s good to start forming good exercise habits that benefit your brain.

5 – Make time to unwind

There’s something to say about mental health here: it can have a tremendous effect on your physical health. Take care of yourself and make an effort to give your mind a rest from the day-to-day grind. Stretching, spending an evening with friends, or reading a book that speaks to your soul can work wonders.

Take it in stride

Take baby steps toward leveraging healthy decisions. Day by day, you can make changes for a happier and healthier mobile home lifestyle.
