So let’s talk about carpets. If you’ve been keeping up with our blog, you’ll see that our recent articles have been geared toward improving your home’s interior through lighting and revamping various rooms.
But we haven’t talked flooring yet. Today we’re going to tackle the topic of carpets. And we’re not talking about cheap carpet.
We’re talking luxury.
Imagine one of these luxurious carpets in your mobile home
There’s something special about sinking your feet into a plush carpet. And it’s not just about you — if you have little ones crawling around, it’s nice to know there’s something soft and comfortable on the market.
So let’s look at various carpet options that do more than make your mobile home look more like a stick built home.
Because let’s face it. The mobile home today holds its own when standing side by side with a stick built home. So it’s not about looks anymore. We have looks going. Now we can take your mobile home’s aesthetic up a notch by talking luxury.
Luxurious carpet is more than carpet quality
To say that getting a luxurious carpet into your home is all about the type of carpet would be a lie. There are many factors that come into play when giving your home the luxury treatment with carpet.
You can look at various samples in the store, then settle on something that’s plush and comfortable just to find that it’s not working for you after installation.
Poor carpet installation and the wrong padding installed underneath and not comprehending what makes quality carpet can put a damper on your dreams of luxury.
Three things to consider
As you examine different carpet samples, consider the following: fiber, style, and weight.
Fiber
To say that fiber is unimportant is silly. It’s will have the biggest impact on the durability and look of your carpet choice. There are five basic fiber categories to keep in mind: wool, nylon, olefin, polyester, and acrylic.
Wool takes the cake in luxury. It’s soft, durable, and let’s not forget expensive.
Next to wool, nylon is also durable and carries a soft feel (though not as soft as wool). The cost factor is much lower. Over half of carpet sales fall within this category.
Olefin, also known as polypropylene, is water and stain resistant. Durability is at the heart of this fiber, making it a good option for low pile, dual purpose carpets.
Polyester can be soft in texture if it’s used in conjunction with a thick pile. Unfortunately, it’s not going to be a sturdy as nylon.
Acrylic gives off the feel of wool but not the quality. It wears out with ease and it’s not usually used to cover a full room.
Style
In general, the higher the pile height, the softer and more luxury-like the carpet. But keep in mind that a higher pile height also means a harder to clean carpet. There are three style categories to keep in mind: Loop-pile carpets, cut-pile carpets, and cut-loop pile.
Weight
Don’t be mislead by salesmen. Walk into that carpet outlet well-informed on how significant carpet weight is in deterring the carpet’s quality. This information will prove helpful in understanding how it works.
Let’s look at luxury carpet options
So now that we’ve determined what factors into determining a carpet’s luxury and style, let’s look at some luxury carpet options.
